Hope For Future Victory, Inc.

Hope For Future Victory, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that gathers monthly sponsors and donations to meet the needs of Future Victory School in Uganda Africa. We support and care for the 750 students of the school as funds become available.

Name:
Location: Fresno, California, United States

I am a 4th and 5th grade teacher. My class began a project to learn about Africa and it has grown into a nonprofit organization for sponsoring orphans affected with HIV/Aids. I am motivated to make a difference in the world today. I want to educate my children and encourage them to help others less fortunate. I can do this by being a good example to them. What can you Do?

Hope For Future Angels, Inc...................
Came from the project of 20 4th and 5th graders at Burrel Union Elementary. They wanted to meet people from around the world. We read Flat Stanley and decided to go traveling. We ended up meeting David Lubaale, in Kampala, Uganda Africa. He is the founder/director of Future Victory School, an orphanage for 750 students. My students then collected and shipped 750 Christmas gifts to the school on December 22, 2005. Giving the students their very first Christmas. We then decided that we would each bring one dollar a month and adopt a child. Najat was 4 years old and in the nursery level of school. In January I began telling my friends what I was doing and now we, Joyce Bergthold and I are partners and are a full nonprofit organization, with 20 sponsors.
My students then decided to teach the students in Uganda about Solar Energy, since they have so much sun. So they learned about solar energy, wrote lessons and a television show to explain the lessons to the students. Then they demonstrated the experiments for them, so they could see how to do them, with the eguipment we sent. They wrote a book, made a powerpoint and then a movie about their experiences.
Now we talk with David regularly, on the Internet on a webcam. We see him and hear him. He sees us and hears us. Next week, May 2, 2006, his students will be viewing the video. They are renting a generator, TV and vcr to view the lessons. The Director of Education of the country will be present.
Today we talked with a new friend Liam in Sydney, Australia. He is working with David to build a website for the school. He is a college student, majoring in technology and graphic design. He will be signing on Thursday night to meet with our parents and students during Open House at our school, so we can demonstrate how the webcam works. I will keep you posted on the projects that my class is doing. Please check out our website www.hopeforfutureangels.org or David's is www.FutureVictorySchool.org or you can reach us at hopeforfutureangels@yahoo.com Ask questions you can make a difference for $20.00 a month.
This week has been an exciting week. Wednesday the 26th Mary spoke to a group of people at the monthly meeting for Fresno Wildlife Rescue and Rehab. It was very exciting to see the concern and excitement in the members faces. By the time she left, she had signed up four individuals as sponsors and recieved and very nice $50.00 donation. Several people said they would be contacting her.
On Thursday April 27th, Burrel Union had "Back to School Night", our class hooked up our webcam and were able to visit with Liam, our new friend in Southern Australia. Our Spanish speaking parents spoke with Liam about crops and agriculture in his area. The students talked with him about music, video games and things he likes to do in his spare time. David was sorry that he could not meet with us, but it was the middle of the night in Uganda. It was a great evening for everyone.
On Saturday, April 29th the 4th and 5th graders of Burrel Union Elementary attended the CTAP/CUE Conference and put on a showcase of the Burrel Science News Lessons and the project we are doing with Future Victory School. It was very exciting, and many people showed a great deal of interest in our project and said thay would be contacting us.
Joyce and I decided at our monthly meeting today that we need to have a fund-raiser to gain some operational funds. We also decided that we need to print out some flyers to have on hand and some business cards. People are really stepping up to the plate and getting involved much more quicly now. It is very exciting.

As of today, June 3rd, we have signed up 20 monthly sponsors for 24 students. That in itself is fantastic. To further improve the life of these students we have raised over $500.00 to purchase a generator to provide electricity to the school for the first time. We will be buying a TV/VCR/DVD also to use for broadcasting lessons to the students of Uganda.
On June 24 we will be having a pancake breakfast from 7:00 AM till 11:00 AM, at Burrel Union Elementary School to Benefit the School. Tickets are available now just call 266-6962 $5.00 for adults and $2.50 per childs plate.
We are looking for donations that can be raffled at the event. Then On July 22nd we will be having a Tri-tip BBQ that will be by invitation only for our supporters. Tickets will be $25.00 each and there will be a big raffle at that event with tikets being $1.00 each. We will keep you posted on what we are doing and how things are going, and what we are accomplishing over the summer.

We have accomplish a huge feat. We collected enough funds to buy a generator for Future Victory School. Businesses all over CLovis and Fresno donated funds to purchase the generator. The African government was raising the taxes on Friday so David went and purchased the generator on Wednesday for $751.89. We wired him $555.00, and we will wire the balance within the week. We have been promised the funds for the balance and the cost of the VCR/DVD/TV, which as also gone up due to the new tax.. Next Saturday is our pancake breakfast and we have sold many tickets. It appears that it will be a wonderful event. I will write more after the event. Keep in mind that we will be having a BBQ on July 22nd. We still have a few seats available.

As July shifts into to high gear, I wanted to update the past few weeks. We have had our first major fundraiser, the pancake breakfast. It was great! We paid our final fees to the IRS for our nonprofit/tax deductable status and we purchased a big generator for Future Victory School.
We have started selling raffle tickets for the dinner on July 22. We have many great prizes, including a DELL laptop; a night at the Christmas Tree Inn in Mi-Wuk; a $25.00 Tony Roma's Gift Certificate, a beautiful hand made baby quilt, several bottles of wine and much, much more.
All of the invitations to the dinner have been mailed and reservations have started to come back.
At this time we have 25 children sponsored and several people waiting to sign up in the next few weeks. We are growing!

Today is July 31st, we have had the best month ever. The generator was purchased and delivered to the school. Over 200 books have been mailed to the school and some have alrady arrived. Today we got the final report from the IRS and we are now TAX-Deductible, what a relief that is. Our benefit on July 22 was wonderful and we raised funds for more school supplies for the students. Many of our supporters came together and had a wonderful dinner, a great afternoon of friendship and togetherness talking about Uganda and the wonderful children of FVS. We are in the midst of a great fundraiser, collecting cell phones. Saving the environment and the children of FVS. If you want to help send us you old cell phones at: Hope For Future Victory, Inc., 5805 W. Vartikian Ave., Fresno CA 93722 We look forward to hearing from you.....
